About Us

We've seen a thing or two, so we know a thing or two about God's amazing grace and generosity!  They have been alive in our church since 1856 when our founders established us as the first church in Lake City.  We joyfully share the Good News of Jesus Christ and we are dedicated to supporting, loving, and serving this community and the world.

Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year, so we will be meeting as usual for morning worship at 10 a.m.  We will light the last candle on the Advent wreath and do a few special things for Christmas Eve.

Join us Christmas Eve at 11:30 p.m. to sing carols and hear the story of Jesus' birth.  Then just after midnight, in the first minutes of Christmas Day, we will share Holy Communion, darken the sanctuary, and sing "Silent Night" and other carols with only the light of our individual candles and the Christmas Trees.

Pastor Badgley's message on Sunday, December 10, was "We Muddle Through Somehow."

Sunday Morning Reflection

The Sunday Sermon When You Can't Be Present

Join us in worship when you can.  And when you can't, you can read Pastor Badgley's "illustrated sermon" with assorted photos, links, and images, which is emailed on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.  Click the image to read previous messages, and to subscribe.

We couldn't be happier that you found us online!   Well, yes we could.  We could be happier if you visited us in person! And this website is a good place to start toward your visit.  We really enjoy Sunday morning worship and being together.  We learn, we laugh,  and we love.  We gather as a community of Christians striving to put our faith into practice on a daily basis.  My sermons connect scripture to daily life experiences, using song lyrics, videos, news articles and whatever inspiration the Spirit gives me to communicate the dynamic relationship we have with God, Jesus Christ and each other.  This website will do a good job orienting you to our church, but it can't compare to  the orientation you'll get when you come through our doors on a Sunday morning!  I truly believe you will feel spiritually uplifted when the hour is through.  And you'll be happy that you found us online AND that you visited us in person!  If you're thinking about a wedding, a baptism, a memorial service, or some theological or spiritual conversation, you can connect with us by clicking the button below.

The Flow is our email newsletter which includes recent church news, upcoming events, photos and more.  Click the image above to read the most recent issue.

It's okay to bring your favorite coffee brew to enjoy in your pew during morning worship.  Fill up your travel mug or to-go cup and join us for worship on Sundays at 10:00 a.m.

We use these pre-packaged individual servings to celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month.  When arriving, people select servings from a table and take them to their pew to be used when directed.

Making life brighter

Sunday School

We have an awesome group of kids.  And the thing that brings them all together is God's love and the story of Jesus Christ.  All kids age 3 to grade 5 meet together for Sunday school about 10:25 a.m. on Sundays. We invite every child to join us.

Thrift Shop

Since we opened our Pass It On Thrift Shop in 2005, our shop has donated over $170,000 to support local and regional organizations that serve others.  Stop by and shop, donate items, or volunteer!

Women's Group

Our women's group is fondly known as the Mayflower Guild.  As Congregationalists we trace our faith heritage to the Pilgrims who sailed to the New World on the ship Mayflower.  The word "guild" refers to a group of people in pursuit of a common goal.  Our women do some amazing work for the church.

Songs Of Hope

Each summer in mid-July we have 60-80 kids from around the world arrive at our church to put on a free evening concert of global music, rock and roll tunes, and traditional dances with ethnic clothing, all accompanied by a live band. The orgnanization responsible for this tour of peace and goodwill is "Sounds Of Hope" in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Tune into everything UCC related!
